Ah. In these days, it's not often that you find puzzle games that really makes you want to bang your head in the wall due to hard puzzles, yet make you full of cheers because of the cute graphics and great sound. Luckily, this happened to me during christmas. Bloodat, the abandonware forum's resident freeware guru, recommended Zep's Dreamland, and I was hooked. Not only was the graphics awesome, but the way the game is made, it's just pure excellence. If only there were more people like Jay at Loomsoft, the quality of games would be kicked up a notch.

In this game, you control Zep, which lives in a world where the inhabitants create their own Dreamlands. Zep's Dreamland is a bit more complex than most others, and there is only one way for Zep to get out, through many levels of obstacles, which you have to build and think his way through. How this all works, you can learn in the neat tutorial the creaters has put in the game. Access it from the main menu.

As Zep goes on through his own dreamland his imagination goes more and more wild, and the obstacles are increasingly hard to get by. I got stuck on 5th level, and I guess I will be stuck there for a while, because I can't figure out how to get to the frigging exit. But just give me time, and I'll make it! Acompanied by great midi music, and wav format sounds, the sound in this game really puts you in the mood, and makes the game something extra. The original pixel-like graphics also gives you that special groovy feeling (did I mention that I'm a sucker for pixel-art?), and playing is just pure joy until you smash your head through your desk out of frustration, then it's time to take a break and think some. I promise you, thinking is a thing you will have to do to beat this game.

It also comes with a cool editor, where you can make your own levels, maybe to upload to the internet or challenge your friends. Furthermore, you can add custom midis and they will queue with the game's default midis, if you put them in the data/music/ folder.

Be sure to grab this classic-to-be freeware puzzle, and be bugged for hours, or even days! If you are losing hair because of this, then don't blame me if you get bald, because this game is tricky, yet so amazingly awesome! Play it now, or I will come stab you in the eye, with a sharp spoon. Also, direct all lawsuits for hair loss to Jay at Loomsoft. Thanks!
